In recent years, Maserati's engines have been co-designed with Ferrari, and the talk of the GranTurismo's sounds has not lulled or ceased. The new Quattroporte will be powered by either a Ferrari designed twin-turbo V6 or a twin-turbo V8.
Sergio Marchionne, Fiat-Chrysler's CEO, has said that "engines worth wearing the Alfa badge" are the biggest problem he's dealing with in reviving Alfa Romeo. In order to fix this huge, glaring deficit, he's enlisted Ferrari, which falls under the Fiat domain, to help.
Alfa Romeo is currently working on several new cars including the 4C mid-engined sports car that we prattle on about indefinitely, the Mazda MX-5 Miata based Spyder in 2015, the Giulia mid-sized sedan and wagon, and a CUV that will be based on a Jeep platform. You can expect to see all of these cars on American roads.
