This season, Adrian Peterson showed us he still got it all-agility, speed, tenacity, power. A.D. is also showing us something that isn't in a Madden game category: confidence. He already said he planned to compete against with the likes of Usain Bolt when he said he wanted to qualify for Olympic Track & Field. Now he's setting a high goal for himself after an already spectacular season.
Peterson sat down to speak with the NFL Network's Marshall Faulk and revealed how he felt after coming just nine yards short of Eric Dickerson's record for rushing yards in a season: “When I heard nine, my heart just sunk into my stomach," he said with that signature A.D. smile. "(There were) 5-6-7 plays I was impatient or made the wrong read–I could have blew it out the water.”
Of course, he's going to be gunning for that record next season, but what's surprising is just how far he wants to beat it by. Peterson is going for 2,500 yards next year. "It's definitely out there. I feel like it's definitely attainable...Enjoy this last year because the record's going down, with ease," he said.
Mind you, A.D. also said that with a smile, but we have the feeling he isn't joking around. It's a huge goal, but at the very least Dickerson should be worried about that record finally going down.
