We say this just about every time a pro athlete gets arrested for DUI. But, let's try it again: If this doesn't make pro athletes think twice about drinking and driving, we don't know what will!

One day late last month, former Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot was pulled over at 3 in the morning after police in Washington, D.C. observed him driving without any tags on his car. And, when they approached the car, they suspected that he might be drunk. So, he was issued a sobriety test, which he failed, and then arrested on DUI charges. But, the story didn't stop there. According to a police affidavit, Smoot also embarrassed himself further once he was taken back to the police station for processing.

"During processing, in the service area, while handcuffed, the [defendant] peed his pants creating a puddle on the floor," the affidavit says. "[A police officer] witnessed the urine running down his pant leg and onto the floor. [Smoot] did not express that he had to use the restroom."

Really, dude?! Smoot was eventually cited and released later that day (presumably in a new pair of pants?) and pled not guilty to the DUI charge on January 17. But, we have to believe that pissing yourself at the police station is not going to look good in court. And, it's also not going to look good on Smoot's resume. So, let this be yet another lesson for all the athletes out there: Unless you want "he once peed all over himself inside of a police station" to be the first thing people think when they say your name, STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING!!!
