In recent years, only two types of people can be found driving Buicks: Grandparents, and college students whose recently deceased grandparents left them a car. We joke, but common perceptions about the brand don't recognize that in the '80s enthusiasts lusted after Buicks in the same way that they lust today after BMWs, Audis and other high-performance luxury cars.

One of the crown jewels in Buick's history is the Grand National, a hotted up version of the Regal, which, despite its short life, remains a favorite today.

In celebration of the release of the new documentary on the car, Black Air, this is The History of the Buick Grand National.
