In light of the recent tragedy involving Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins comes another story involving an NFL player and guns. The only difference? This story appears to have a happy ending…for now, at least.

Last month, Terrell Suggs filed a custody complaint against Candace Williams, the mother of his two children. She, in turn, filed a court order against him claiming that she and Suggs had been involved in some kind of domestic dispute recently. And, as a result, the couple will be headed to court soon to work out their "domestic-related issues." But, for now, Suggs has been forced to hand over several firearms that he owns legally until the situation is worked out within the courts.

"The guns were surrendered over to police pursuant to the court order, and they [Suggs and Williams] are resolving their issues," Suggs' lawyer Warren Alperstein told the Baltimore Sun yesterday. "All I can tell you is that he's in rightful and lawful possession of the guns but turned them over pursuant to the requirements of the law."

Although Suggs seems like a nice enough guy, the incident involving Belcher and Perkins highlighted how you never really know what's going on between a couple behind closed doors. And, we also feel compelled to point out that there have been alleged domestic violence incidents involving Suggs and Williams that have been reported to police in the past (including one back in December 2009 that involved him allegedly pouring bleach on her). So, it's good to see that police are taking all of the necessary precautions with regards to the current situation involving Suggs and Williams. Now, let's hope that everything gets worked out sooner than later and that these two get some real help for whatever problems they're having.
