With players like Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash all on one squad, it wouldn't be crazy to bestow the "Showtime" title on them. However, at 14-14 this season, the Los Angeles Lakers have looked average, at best. But if you look at the team that shares the Staples Center floor with the Lake Show, you may be witnessing something pretty close to what Magic Johnson started during his playing days.

During halftime of last night's game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets, Magic spoke on the 22-6 Clippers and said, “I thought I would never, ever see Showtime again. And I was the architect of Showtime. The Clippers? That’s Showtime.” While that knee-jerk reaction could've been in response to the 42-point second quarter outburst by Chris Paul & Co. which featured plenty of highlight reel moments, as Larry Brown Sports pointed out, this team's flashy, high-flying style of play is something surely reminiscent of Johnson and the Lakers from back in the day.

When asked about Magic's comments, CP3 kept it simple and stayed humble. “The thing about Showtime, they won championships,” said Paul. “So that’s what we’re trying to aspire to. We appreciate Magic—he’s the best to ever do it.” Still, it doesn't hurt to ask. With an impressive 14-game winning streak and the well-known "A Tribe Called Bench," are the Clippers now the kings in L.A.?
