Significant upgrades to the Mercedes-Benz E-class have been revealed ahead of the public debut in Detroit next month. Most radical are the styling cues. Gone are the traditional quad headlights—an E-class staple since 1995—which have been replaced by more conventional LED daytime-running lights. Character, however, is not lost. The bold, pronounced grille does more than enough to make up for the loss of bulbous lamps.
Under the hood, the E-class will carry one gas engine in (at least) three incarnations. Additionally, diesel options will be made available. For those wondering "what about an AMG version?" don't worry: It will be pushing a minimum of 520 hp.
