Cam Newton has taken his fair share of Ls this year. When the 2012-13 NFL season kicked off back in September, we thought it was going to be a special season for the Panthers QB. But, instead, it's been one fail after another for Newton.
His latest fail involves something that happened all the way back in February that's just coming to light now. According to a new report by CBS Sports columnist Pete Prisco, Newton was disrespectful to several NFL players at the 2012 Pro Bowl and didn't make any new friends amongst the guys who were voted to either of the Pro Bowl teams.
"He was a total asshole," one AFC player told Prisco. "Who did he think he was? He acted like the big shit. Here he was at his first game and he acted like he was the star. Guys didn't like that."
Another player got upset after Newton turned down an autograph request for his kid by saying "now's not the time."
"Who the hell did he think they were?" the player said, referring to the families that were gathered at a Pro Bowl event. "The only people around are families. He knew that. Yet, he big-timed the guy by saying, 'Now's not the time.'"
And, several players also told Prisco that Newton committed the ultimate faux pas in Honolulu by dissing Ray Lewis. Lewis denied that accusation through the Ravens PR team when Prisco reached out to him, but several anonymous players say that Newton did, in fact, disrespect the NFL legend.
"That's the godfather there," a player said. "Can you believe he did that?"
No, we can't. And, we also can't believe players were so upset about Newton's behavior that, even now, they're still talking about it. Newton must have really ruffled some feathers out there in Hawaii. But, there is one piece of good news for the guys quoted in the story. Fortunately, they won't have to worry about Newton making another appearance at the Pro Bowl after this disastrous season.
