With a design based on the cartilage structure of a woodpecker, the Kranium bicycle helmet from product developer Anirudha Surabhi is made of corrugated cardboard and is actually not only lighter but also stronger than traditional expanded polystyrene (EPS) models. Using a material called Dual Density Honey Comb Board or D2, the liner of the helmet has been proven to absorb up three times the amount of impact of EPS helmets and will be available for purchase by the end of December.
