The Subaru BRZ STi Won't Have a Turbo

More power without a loss of character.

We all assumed that Subaru, a company best known for AWD and turbochargers, would be throwing a turbo or two in the the BRZ at some point. While the idea of more power sounded great, losing the fun character of the naturally aspirated engine made the idea a little less than appealing. Luckily, it looks like the BRZ is going to get its power bump by way of upgrades to the car's intake system and exhaust, as well as some ECU tuning that will raise the redline past 7,500rpms. Auto Express reports that this will push power up to about 230hp.

In order to bring the handling up to STi spec, the BRZ STi will also get some wider tires and a set of beefy, four piston brakes. All is well in the world.
