Part of the L.A. Auto Show pageantry, the L.A. Design Challenge finds automaker's battling to concept a vehicle for the future. For 2012, the idea is to create a "Highway Patrol Vehicle" for 2025. In the running are BMW, General Motors, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and Subaru.
Entrants to the competition range from unmanned drones to powerful SUVs. Mercedes-Benz has already built its concept, the Ener-G-Force, which we've highlighted and will be on full display at the auto show.
The winner of the challenge will be announced on Thursday.
