Awards continue to pour in for the Tesla Model S. Last week, we shared news that the groundbreaking electric car—the baby of a PayPal billionare—has been named Automobile of the Year by Automobile Magazine. Add to that lofty title Time Magazine's stamp of design approval. The car is one of 2012's best inventions.

25 inventions are listed by Time. Telsa is the only car, with Goodyear's self-inflating tires the only other automotive inclusion. Suggestions are made that the Model S is the most important car since Ford's pioneering Model T.

Do you subscribe to the idea that the Telsa Model S is basically the second most important car ever?
