In a recent study conducted by the University of Michigan's Transportation Research Institute, based on data from driver's license statistics between between 1995 and 2010, it has been determined that there are more women driving on U.S. roads than men. During the time period studied, the number of men between 25 and 29 years old with licenses fell by 10 percent, while the number of women in the same age group fell by only 4.7 percent. The study indicates that the shift will eventually impact everything from vehicle design (see the Honda Fit "She's" below) to traffic fatalities, and fuel consumption.
