There are several rappers who have invested in NBA teams in the past. Nelly bought a small share of the Charlotte Bobcats. Will Smith was part of a group that purchased the Philadelphia 76ers. And, of course, Jay-Z owns a percentage of the Brooklyn Nets. But, no rappers have shown a real interest in snatching up a soccer team…until now.
According to the Daily Record, Snoop Dogg—ahem, we mean Snoop Lion—is thinking about investing some of his hard-earned money into the Glasgow Celtic. He became interested in buying a part of the team recently after watching them beat Barcelona in a Champions League match.
"I haven't really thought about how much [I would invest]," Snoop told the Daily Record. "I don't need to run a soccer club but enough of a percentage to get me on board so I can be heard…I asked my man David [Beckham] about Celtic and he was like, 'Yeah, teams don't come much bigger.' I would try and sign him up for a season, but he is pretty happy over here [playing for the L.A. Galaxy]."
Snoop buying into a soccer team and attempting to bring Becks on board? Man, the world must be coming to an end soon. We never thought we'd see this day.
