On Friday afternoon, with Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jerry West, Pat Riley and others in attendance, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was honored with a bronze statue immortalizing his legendary skyhook. "Having lived my life and had the experiences I've had, I can understand now what a man like Lou Gehrig means when he considers himself the luckiest man on the face of the earth," Abdul-Jabbar said during the ceremony before last night's Lakers game against the Suns.
From the traditional '80s short shorts to his signature googles, the statue which stands nearly 16 feet tall represents Abdul-Jabbar perfectly. Now, it will stand as fitting reminder of the guy who won 5 NBA Championships and 3 league MVP titles. Hit the thumbs for more pictures from yesterday's event.
