J.R. Smith likes to party. We found that out earlier this year when he joined the New York Knicks midway through the season—and then started showing up in every other NYC party pic that we looked at (peep a photo of him and Rocsi chilling at Greenhouse in April in the thumbs). We couldn't really blame him for it, though. After all, he was a 26-year-old millionaire playing basketball in New York City for the first time! What did you expect him to do? Go home after practice every night and, like, read or something? Eff that! POP BOTTLES!

It sounds like Smith spent a little bit too much time partying last season, though. So, earlier today, he told Newsday's Al Iannazzone that he's spending less time in the NYC clubs this year:

JR Smith admitted the New York nightlife got to him last year. He's going out less now he says.

It seems to be paying off, too. Through five games, the Knicks sixth man is averaging 18.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, which are all higher than his career averages.

It sounds like you're onto something here, J.R. Stay out of the club.
