Minnesota Vikings DE Jared Allen is doing a great thing for wounded war vets. On Friday night, he held The First Annual Jared Allen “Helping Heroes Gala” in downtown Minneapolis. The event raised around $300,000 from ticket sales and a silent auction.

Allen had this to say about the event:

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out on Friday and made the event an incredible success. The support I received from my teammates and the Vikings organization was remarkable and I cannot say thank you enough.  I hope that next year is even more successful.  I intend to continue this event for many years to come so that we can provide more homes for our wounded warriors.”

The organization the money was raised for is called Homes for Wounded Warriors. The non-profit builds or modifies homes for injured Military Veterans. You can help out too by making a donation or buying a T-shirt through Allen's site.

Don't be a cheapskate.
