Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins doesn't take too kindly to being called out on live TV. Just ask former Spurs star and current Spurs TV analyst Sean Elliott.
On Friday night, Elliott made some comments about Cousins live on the air during a Kings/Spurs contest after Cousins talked trash to Tim Duncan and was subsequently scored on a few times in a row.
"That's why some humility is in order," Elliott said. "You think you're dominating Tim Duncan, you get it stuffed right back in your face. Timmy doesn't like to talk trash. But, if guys start talking mess to him, he's going to respond. All that trash talking was premature. I'm not about to let these guys off the hook. Young ball clubs…should learn from this. Don't start talking and flapping your gums against one of the greatest players ever. He's going to make you pay. Tell me who got the best of this exchange."
TD got the best of that exchange. But, DMC got his revenge later with an exchange of his own. After the game, Cousins heard about Elliott's comments and decided to confront him about them. So, he went out onto the court in his uniform, waited for Elliott to finish with his post-game show, and then got into a very heated discussion with him about the comments. The confrontation reportedly ended with Elliott walking away as Cousins continued yelling at him.
Of course, the NBA didn't like the sound of any of this. So, they suspended Cousins yesterday for two games without pay. He began serving his suspension last night during the Kings game against the Lakers and will also miss tomorrow night's game against the Trail Blazers.
We have to admit: We've heard about guys getting suspended for doing a lot of different things. But, this is definitely a first. And, we hope that whatever Cousins said to Elliott was worth it, because he's definitely paying the price for it now.
