It's no secret that Americans are obsessed with sports. Like it or not, professional and college sports are a huge part of our culture and likely will be for the foreseeable future. However, sometimes we get those moments that justify our obsession. Colts head coach Chuck Pagano's post-game locker room speech was one of them.
The first-year head coach was diagnosed with leukemia just weeks into his tenure and forced to sit out a majority of this NFL season. But yesterday, Pagano took a break from his medical treatment to visit the Colts. He gave an amazing speech after Indianapolis' 23-20 win over the Dolphins.
"I mentioned before the game that you guys were living in vision, and you weren't living in circumstances. Because you know where they had us in the beginning--every last one of them. But you refused to live in circumstances, and you decided consciously, as a team and as a family, to live in a vision. And that's why you bring things home like you brought things home today. That's why you're already champions, and well on your way."
"I've got circumstances--you guys understand it, and I understand it. It's already beat. And my vision that I'm living is to see two more daughters get married, dance at their weddings, and then hoist that Lombardi several times."
It's moments like these that make seems like more than just a game.
