Ben Roethlisberger's Rare Rib Injury to Keep Him Out 2-3 Weeks

Bad news for the Steel City.

Last week vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, Ben Roethlisberger suffered rib and shoulder injuries after being sacked by Justin Houston and Tamba Hali. On Wednesday, team doctors originally thought Big Ben would only miss a week, even after discovering a dislocated rib that's threatening to cut his aorta. Roethlisberger was already out for tonight's game vs. the Baltimore Ravens, but now he'll be out next week vs. the Cleveland Browns and quite possibly Pittsburgh's rematch vs. Baltimore on the road the week after that. Not only is the dislocated rib threatening the aorta, it may also be a greater threat to the surrounding arteries, vessels and soft tissue. Ben is still in the same amount of pain today as he was when he left Monday night's game. The Steelers will have rely on Bryon Leftwich to take care of the football and manage the offense.

The Steel Curtain is 6-3 and Roethlisberger was having a hell of a season with a QB Rating of 100.0, 2,287 yards, 17 touchdowns and four interceptions.
