Ben Roethlisberger Suffered a Rare Rib Injury on Monday Night That Could Kill Him If He Plays Again Too Soon

Ouch.

If Ben Roethslisberger was to play this coming Sunday against the Ravens, he could die. And, we don't mean that figuratively. We mean that he could literally die.

On Monday night against the Chiefs, Big Ben left the game with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. And, while he did suffer a sprained shoulder, Steelers doctors were more concerned about another injury that he suffered. It's a dislocated rib, and doctors are worried that, if the rib dislocates further and moves in the wrong direction, it could potentially cut into Roethlisberger's aorta and kill him. So, understandably, he's not going to play on Sunday against the Ravens. But, don't worry, Pittsburgh fans. Roethlisberger doesn't think the injury will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

"I don't think so," he said today. "I don't know, though…I'm not a medical expert."

We're obviously not experts, either. But...DAMN! A dislocated rib that could potentially kill you? That sounds horrible.
