Did you hear about the death of Tim McNearney? If you said no, it's understandable. After all, as John Morse of SB Nation's Bring On The Cats, points out, "As of last night, there was not a single headline in any major national sports news outlet about this tragedy. Not on ESPN.com, not on CBSSports.com, not on SI.com, not on SportingNews.com."

McNearney was a running back who played for the Division III football team, Washington & Jefferson. Before his tragic death, the senior was named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference all-conference team twice and had amassed some solid stats so far this season. Then, the poor 21-year-old became the victim of "a robbery gone awry."

The lieutenant said Mr. McNerney and a friend, 22-year-old Zach DeCicco of Jefferson Hills, were walking home about 2:30 a.m. when a group of as many as six men attacked them near Lombardi's repair shop.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the McNearney family, his teammates and all those that got to know him at Washington & Jefferson.
