On the eve of the 2012-13 NBA season the New York Knicks have reportedly learned that they probably won't see Amar'e Stoudemire take the floor till December. The ruptured popliteal cyst (WebMD.com, fam) behind STAT's knee seems to be more serious than originally thought. Stoudemire received a second opinion and reached the conclusion that the original time frame of two to three weeks recovery would not be enough to completely heal.
Stoudemire does have a history of knee problems and underwent microfracture surgery in 2005. Since then the forward has had four seasons in which he's played in at least 78 games but also only played in 53 games in 2008-09 and 47 in last year's lockout shortened 66-game season.
Looks like that Brooklyn Nets bandwagon may get a little more packed.
