The silver arrows are icons of a bygone era. Their raw-metal finish came from a Mercedes W25 racer being a single kilogram over the weight limit in 1934. Rather than declining to race, the crew quickly stripped the paint from the car, which made it both lighter and a bit more eye catching. As the car went on to victory that day the nickname "silver arrow" was born, and German race cars have been silver ever since.

It's awesome to see 10 of them being driven in the same place at this year's Goodwood Revival.
