There's still no love lost between Stephon Marbury and the New York Knicks.
Recently, Starbury—who is headed back to China this week to play for the Chinese Basketball Association's Beijing Ducks for another season—was asked what he thinks about the 2012-13 Knicks. And, he wasted no time in ripping his old team's current lineup and talking about why the Carmelo Anthony/Amare Stoudemire experiment isn't going to work.
"Amare needs a point guard like Steve Nash," he said. "He's a pick-and-roll guy, a pick-and-pop guy. He can't play in the half court where everything's slowed down."
So, why did the Knicks bring 'Melo in and pair him with STAT then, Starbury? "I don't know if [Knicks owner James] Dolan brought him in to win games," he said, "or to make money."
Oooookay then. So, you don't think they're going to make any noise in the Eastern Conference this season? "I think they have a good team," Marbury said. "They could make the second round [of the playoffs]."
The second round? Awesome! Er, wait. We see what you did there, man. Way to throw shade. Have fun out in China.
