Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly must be smiling from ear to ear after seeing the game their top recruit Thomas Tyner had yesterday. When it was all said and done, Tyner finished with 643 rushing yards on 38 carries and 10 touchdowns. Oh, and did we mention that he did all of this on his 18th birthday?

In the first half, the Ducks-bound running back ended up scoring on runs of 20, 41, 62, 60 and 65 yards. But even with such a dominating performance, the opposing team, Lakeridge, kept it close until the Aloha Warriors pulled away in the fourth quarter and won, 84-63. Interestingly, Tyner's game still fell short of the all-time high for most yards by a back in a single game, according to the National High School Sports Record Book. John Giannantonio is still holding down the top spot with 754 yards in 1950 while Paul McCoy amassed 661 yards in 2006. However, Tyner did manager to break Oregon's rushing record of 508 yards, which was set last year by West Albany star Jake LaCoste.

If this kid can make a swift and successful transition from high school to college football, it's sure going to be fun seeing him in one of the many Ducks uniforms next season.
