After only one official game in the NFL, Robert Griffin III is the name on everyone's lips. That's what 320 passing yards and 2 touchdowns with 42 yards rushing will do for ya. But how much praise does Griffin deserve? Front-runner for this year's Offensive Rookie of the Year? Maybe. The Redskins' savior? Eh. Best player in the NFL today? OK, now that's just crazy, right? Not if you ask John Madden, who fired off nothing but good things (and weird analogies) following RGIII's Week 1 performance.

“You know, the thing that he did that was so amazing was he reminded me — and I don’t mean to throw names around — but he reminded me of a Tim Tebow that can pass,” Madden said on SiriusXM NFLRadio, via the Washington Post. “You know, Tim Tebow, when he was playing for Denver last year, he would tend to freeze the defenses, because they weren’t sure if it was run or pass, if he was gonna hand off or run. I mean, he couldn’t pass like RGIII — [Griffin] can throw the ball — but he has a tendency to freeze the defense.

So...a Tebow-like running quarterback who can also throw the ball, eh? Doesn't that describe Michael Vick too? Hell, even Aaron Rodgers got some wheels on him when he wants to show 'em off. Listen, it's waaaaay too early to start calling Griffin the best in the league, but there's no denying that it looks like the Redskins got a nice cornerstone QB in RGIII to build their team around for years to come.
