Here we go again!
After the 2012 NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants back in January, Niners WR Kyle Williamsreceived a series of death threats on Twitter. He committed two fumbles during the game, including one that essentially gave the Giants the win, so people were angry at him and took it out on his Twitter account. It was really disgraceful.
Unfortunately, it seems that people on Twitter are still jackasses. How else can you explain the same damn thing happening to Redskins wide receiver Josh Morgan after he committed a stupid penalty against the Rams on Sunday that cost his team the game? Like Williams, he also received death threats and had people urging him to kill himself on Twitter in the hours and days following the game.
"I heard everything," he said yesterday, "especially when they get you on Twitter and are sending you death threats and wishing you bad things and your first born. You see it all. You hear it all. You never let it get to you, especially with me being from D.C. They treated me like they did Kyle Williams last year."
But, unlike Williams, Morgan won't have an entire offseason to deal with the loss and the Twitter backlash. He'll be right back on the field next week when the 'Skins take on the Cincinnati Bengals at home. And, he says he's already moved on from the incident.
"It was very easy to put it behind me," he said. "I put it behind me as soon as we got on the plane."
Good. What he did on the field was dumb. But, what people did to him on Twitter was dumber. Seriously, guys? Chill out.
