There's always somebody you know that still refuses to put on his or her seat belt. For me, it's my dad. He never puts it on, and in his Ford Explorer Sport Trac, the mini-truck lets you know after about a minute with an extremely annoying ding that repeats over and over again. I'm tempted to reach over the car and put the seat belt on for him sometimes. Well, in new cars, I might be tempted to reach behind me into the rear passenger's seats. A government proposal would require all seat belts to have an alarm, not just a dashboard indicator. Considering anybody who isn't buckled up could become a danger to others in the vehicle, we think it's a pretty solid idea.
