Car auctioneer Gooding & Gooding says that this Mercedes Benz 540K vow Krieger Special Roadster might just break the record for the highest price paid for a car at auction. The current record was set at $16.39 million by a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR Prototype last year.

The car was shipped to Switzerland by Baroness Gisela von Krieger in 1942 to avoid the second world war. After the war, she moved to Greenwhich, CT and the car followed. Since then, it has made its way to Gooding & Gooding. David Gooding describes it as "the most exciting pre-war Mercedes-Benz[he's] ever known."
