If you’re like us, you’ve probably lamented the fact that most concept cars never actually get made. George Barris’ design for the 1966 iteration of the Batmobile for TV breathed new life into Lincoln’s Futura concept. That car was already halfway to becoming Barris’ vision of the Batmobile; just look at it. Of course, Barris’ tight three-week schedule to come up with a car for the show may also have had something to do with it. Either way, it’s an enduring design icon that will probably last as long as people are interested in cars, Batman -- or both.
