Say what you want about Tim Tebow's play on the football field. But, there's no denying that he's a great guy off of it. And, at least one of his fellow NFL star wants other football players to stop clowning Timmy and try being a little more like him.
"I know that everybody likes to make fun of Tim Tebow and talk about him," New York Giants defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora told the New York Daily News recently, "but he sets an outstanding example for people. I think if more people would focus and try to be like him and carry themselves the way he does, I think things would be better."
Umenyiroa also doesn't understand why so many NFL players continue to break the law and get arrested. "For the life of me, I can't understand it," he said. "People need to be more focused and more grateful for what it is that they have. Coming from where I came from [an offseason trip to Nigeria] and seeing what I saw, all that poverty and people who have nothing, they would literally cut off both legs to have the opportunity these people have. And, to be messing around like that, man, it's really unfortunate."
Good points all around. Maybe we'll take it easy on Timmy from now on. Key word: Maybe. Because, how are we supposed to ignore stuff like this?!
