Ah, the 2012 Summer Olympics. A time for all of the world's countries to come together. A time for people of all races, religions, and creeds to compete. A time for…racist tweets? Er, okay, that last one definitely doesn't belong in the same sentence as the 2012 Summer Olympics. So, as a result of the racist tweet that she sent out earlier this week, Olympic triple jumper Voula Papachristou has been expelled from Greece's Olympic Team and will not participate in London later this month.

On Sunday, Papachristou attempted to make a joke on her Twitter account after reports came out indicating that Nile-virus-carrying mosquitos had invaded Athens. And, it reaked of racism. "With so many Africans in Greece," she tweeted, "the West Nile mosquitos will be getting home food!!!"

That tweet obviously didn't sit well with a lot of people and, earlier today, her tweet went viral and started to get a ton of hate. So, not long after that, the Hellenic Olympic Committee announced that Papachristou would no longer be representing Greece in the 2012 Summer Olympics. She attempted to apologize through her Twitter and Facebook accounts, but the damage was already done.

SMH. When will these athletes learn?
