Remember former NFL linebacker Nate Webster? Eh, probably not. Despite the fact that he won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and started for the Denver Broncos in his final season in the league in 2008, he didn't earn a ton of accolades for his play on the field. No Pro Bowls. No All-NFL awards. No Hall of Fame mentions. And yet, we get the feeling you'll never forget his name after what we're about to tell you.
Webster, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2004 and 2005, was just sentenced to 12 years in prison for—get this—sleeping with an underage girl who just so happened to be the daughter of one of his former assistant coaches in Cincinnati. He started sleeping with her back in 2009 when she was just 15 and allegedly threatened to hurt her if she told anyone. His lawyer tried to dispute those accusations by saying that he actually started sleeping with the girl when she was 16—the legal age of consent in Ohio—but Webster went on the record back when he was first arrested and told police that he'd started sleeping with her when she was 15. So, he was found guilty of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and given 12 years behind bars.
Crazy. Like we said, we bet you'll remember his name now—just not for the right reasons.
