Cabbies don't need any incentive to go faster. Telling the driver to put the pedal to the metal will needlessly endanger both of your lives.

A lot of taxis now use credit card machines that will allow you to tip by percentage of the fare. Just because it was a $20 cab ride doesn't mean you have to chip in $4 ( 20%) for tip. A couple dollars will usually do the trick.

A taxi isn't a clown car. Moreover, it is illegal for the cabbie to have peope piled to the ceiling. Do yourself a favor and splurge on two cabs.

Remember, as a passenger in a cab, you're a bicyclist's worst nightmare. Before you bounce, take a peek behind you to make sure that you are not about to decapitate someone.

The cabbie is not your therapist. Life sucks, we get it. Just let the guy do his job! You don't want your personal failings in life showing up in some tell-all later, either.

Cabbies will put up with a lot before they kick you out. However, trying to stick it in is usually something they won't stand for. Wait the extra 20 minutes to make your move.

Speaking from personal experience here: ALWAYS count the change. Cabbies can be pretty slick about "forgetting" to include that extra 20 bucks they owe you.

Farting in a Taxi is just bad form. You might be paying for the ride, but that doesn't mean the driver has to experience the bean burrito you had for dinner. Have a little respect, son, especially if there's a lady in the cab.

Other than being incredibly rude, lighting one up in a taxi can get you saddled with a ticket and a hefty fine.

Remember, these guys know a sucker when they see one. Even if you're a tourist, try to have a vague idea of where the fuck you are going. Otherwise, the cabbie will be laughing all the way to the bank.
