Back in November, we told you about Garrett McNamara, a surfer from Hawaii who caught a huge wave just off the coast of Portugal. At the time, it was believed that he caught a wave for somewhere in the range of 90 feet and that he was the new world record holder for the biggest wave ever surfed. As it turns out, he did not ride the wave 90 feet—not even close actually—but he did manage to ride it 78 feet, which is still a world record by a full foot over the previous record. So, at the Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards, McNamara was officially named the new Guinness World Record holder for the biggest wave ever surfed. In case you missed it, check it out again above. It's epic.
