Star Motorcycles began as a brand in 2005, but the company behind it has been around since the ‘70s. So why haven’t you heard of them before? Before 2005, they were simply known as Yamaha’s cruiser lineup. To cut down on potential confusion between cruiser and sportbike clientele, Yamaha decided to launch Star as a completely separate brand. To those who were already motorcyclists at the time, this wasn’t at all confusing. However, if you were (or are) new to the hobby and feel more comfortable riding an established brand, you might have questions about Star bikes that are built and supported by Yamaha.
