After sticking to a flat rate since 2006, the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission has agreed to consider a yellow cab proposal to raise fares between 16 and 20 percent. The Bloomberg administration has already cosigned the raise, meaning if this moves according to plan, we could see increases as soon as July. The proposal comes at a time of drastic change for all cab drivers, seeing the new outer boroughs taxis coming to fruition, as well as the new Nissan "Taxi of Tomorrow" Minivan, which are planned to replace all current cabs, you see above.
