Following the announcement of the launch of Citibikes earlier this year, comes what will may become New York City's second bike share program, the tech-savy Social Bikes, or SoBi for short.

There are some major differences between SoBi and the much debated Citibikes program, mainly the program's use of smart phones and wireless communications to find routes, locate available bikes in your neighborhood, and for social sharing via Twitter, Facebook and Google+.

The bikes are set to arrive in Buffalo, NY and two west coast cities by the end of summer, but expect them to hit the city soon after, as the they will be renting them to suppliers, with a business-facing app designed to track bikes and set boundaries for return.

Check out one of SoBi's representatives explaining some of the features of the new program below.
