Year: 2005
What it is: A limited remake of an American icon
Complex Says: Race cars are the stuff of legends, and few are as legendary as the brilliant Ford GT40, which was created out of nothing more than a vendetta against Enzo Ferrari by Henry Ford. Enzo has acted like he was willing to sell his company to Ford, but was only really interested in using the Americans as a bargaining chip in his deals with Fiat. When Ford found out that he had wasted a fortune on research leading up to the purchase, he vowed to beat Ferrari at Le Mans.
He did. Decades later, for only two short model years, Ford released the GT, an almost identical, road-going homage to the original race car.
