Yep, you read that right. Stephon Marbury is getting a bronze statue erected in his honor.
After he led the Beijing Ducks to the Chinese Basketball Associationchampionship this season, someone started an online campaign on the Chinese basketball websitehoopchina.com to try and get a statue of Marbury built. And, wouldn't you know, it worked! More than a million Chinese basketball fans threw their support behind the idea in just a week's time and, as a result, a Marbury statue is currently being built. It depicts the former NBA star hoisting the CBA championship trophy after the Ducks won the 'chip late last month.
