Sixteen years ago, Shaquille O'Neal agreed to appear in a completely ridiculous movie about a rapping genie called Kazaam. Why? Well, that's the question we've been asking ourselves for the last 16 years. And, apparently, we're not alone. GQ got a hold of Shaq recently and asked him a number of things. But, the most interesting part of the interview came when he was asked why in the world he agreed to film Kazaam.
"I was a medium-level juvenile deliquent from Newark who always dreamed about doing a movie," he replied. "Someone said, 'Hey, here's $7 million, come in and do this genie movie.' What am I going to say, no? So I did it."
Good enough answer for us! Although, that doesn't mean we're ever going to watch Kazaam again. We'll acknowledge that it was a huge pop culture moment for you, Shaq, but...No. Sorry, big man.
