Assuming, of course, the Knicks make the playoffs in the first place.

Do you hear that sound? That's the sound of millions of Knicks fans standing around the water cooler this morning talking about how they think their team can make a playoff push this season. Forget the fact that they haven't even clinched a playoff spot yet. They beat the Bulls yesterday! Carmelo Anthony looked amazing! The Garden was electric! They're going to the NBA Finals!

Easy there, Knicks fans. It was a nice win, but you're not out of the woods yet. For starters, you still have to win a few more games to actually, you know, get into the playoffs. Then, you'll have to win a tough first-round matchup, which could be against the Bulls or the Heat. And, the worst part? You're probably going to have to do it without Jeremy Lin, who announced that he's probably not going to be ready to play in the first round of the playoffs if the Knicks do clinch a spot.

"I think unless something goes really well, I wouldn't get there," he said yesterday. "It depends on how far and how long [the Knicks go in the playoffs] but obviously I want to get back to 100 percent and then come back, hopefully see what I can do. By then it'll be a different team identity, chemistry, so it gets tricky, too. Yeah, I'm doing everything, we're doing everything we can to get back as soon as possible."

So, we don't want to rain on the championship parade you're already planning, Knicks fans, but…yeah. Just chill out for a second. Or, better yet, step away from the water cooler and get back to work. You've still got a long way to go before you can start talking about a title.
