Ford Unveils Juke-Rivaling CUV in China

The mini SUV is about to become a big market segment.

The Nissan Juke, despite being cartoonish and packed with nearly vestigial gadgets, has been a great sales success. It fits the nonsensical desires of today's customers to a "t." People want a car that's efficient, different looking, has a hatch in the back, isn't a hatchback, is an SUV, drives like a car, and is more or less idiot proof. As such, the Juke has been flying out of the showrooms.

Ford's answer to this budding market segment is the EcoSport, which is basically a high-riding Fiesta sporting a 1.0L EcoBoost engine that's good for 118 horses. We think it has the potential to steal customers from Nissan who are turned off by the weirdness of the Juke.
