Last night, Dwyane Wade was asked if he feels Olympic athletes should be paid for their services. His answer: YES!

"It's a lot of things you do for the Olympics—a lot of jerseys you sell," he said after a Heat practice. "We play the whole summer. I do think guys should be compensated. Just like I think college players should be compensated as well. Unfortunately, it's not there. But I think it should be something, you know, there for it."

Wade had a point, too. The men's basketball training camp for the 2012 Summer Olympics starts just two weeks after the 2012 NBA Finals end. And the Olympics end about a month before NBA training camps begin. So, NBA players get very little time to rest in the offseason when they commit to playing in the Olympics. "It's taxing on your body," Wade said. "You're not playing for the dollar. But it would be nice if you would get compensated."

Less than a day later, though, he's already done a complete 180 and changed his attitude towards playing in the Olympics. "I do not want to be paid to go to the Olympics," he said in a short statement sent out on Thursday.

So, what gives, D-Wade? We were just starting to side with you and then you say that? Stick to your guns. We don't blame you for wanting to be paid. No matter what USA Basketball made you say in that statement today.
