Despite the fact that Derrick Rose has missed almost half of the 2011-12 NBA season with various injuries, he still managed to snag the cover of the May 2012 issue of GQ. And inside, he opens up—well, opens up more than he usually does—about a variety of different things. He talks about why he hates living in his hometown of Chicago sometimes ("I hate attention"). He remembers how he used to see Barack Obama walking the streets of the city when he was a Senator ("I didn't appreciate it then. I…just wanted to see rappers"). And, most interestingly, he speaks on how he doesn't mind being compared to Michael Jordan.
"What's wrong with getting close to the best person that ever played the game?" he says. "I've run into him a couple of times, but we don't have a relationship. His title drives me. I'm not scared of him; if anything, it makes me work harder when I do train."
It's something Bulls fans should be happy to hear. But, you know what'd make them even more happy? Hearing that Rose is healthy and ready to gear up for a deep playoff run this year.
