Cadillac is looking to build on last year's record-setting 30,000 sales in China. In a partnership with Shanghai General Motors, Cadillac with begin production in China of the XTS sedan this fall.
“China is the second-largest market for Cadillac, and of course is one of the largest and strongest markets in the world for luxury cars, so it is a core part of our vision as a brand,” said vice president of brand marketing at Cadilllac Don Butler. “It is projected that by the end of the decade half of all luxury purchases in the world – all categories, not just cars – will occur in China.”
The average Cadillac in China is 35 years old, so it's clear that the company has completely shed its old-people car perception and is expanding into younger markets.
