Audi upped its Italian appeal this week by purchasing high-performance sport motorcycle company Ducati from the Investindustrial Group for a $1.2 billion. By doing so, Audi has also agreed to take on Ducati's $261 million debt.

Chairman of the General Works Council of Audi Peter Mosch believes the purchase is a great chance to expand. “We must use the opportunities offered by globalization for Audi – and that’s exactly what we’re doing," he said. Everyone at Audi is looking forward to working with our new colleagues from Ducati." The bike company, widely regarded as tops in the world, sold about 42,000 units last year, earning about $630 million in revenue.
