An NFL Player Tried to Eat His Marijuana Stash After Getting Pulled Over By Police Recently

Did he really think that was gonna work?

To be fair to Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure, he's not quite as stupid as Samaki Walker—a former NBA player who shoved eight grams of weed into his mouth during a routine traffic stop last year to try and avoid getting into trouble. But what he did when he got pulled over by police in a rental car early last month was still plenty dumb.

Leshoure and a friend were driving down I-94 in Baroda, Mich. on March 12 when they were pulled over for failure to signal a lane change and following another vehicle too closely. No big deal, right? Except that when a police officer approached their rented 2012 Mitsubishi Endeavor, he smelled the scent of marijuana coming from the car. Upon further inspection, he noticed that Leshoure—who is expected to be the Lions featured back next season—was covered in marijuana and that he was chewing on a small amount of weed in order to try and get rid of it. And, to make matters even worse, Leshoure's friend was driving without a license, Leshoure had just been booked about two weeks prior for smoking weed, and, well...yeah. It wasn't a good situation. Leshoure was also due in court yesterday to answer to the drug charges that were filed against him, but he never showed.

Let this be a lesson to athletes all of you out there: Just say no to trying to eat your weed stash drugs (no, seriously, just say no! You don't want to end up on this list, do you?!). It's not worth the trouble.
