Syracuse Center Fab Melo To Miss NCAA Tournament

Time to switch your brackets.

None

The Syracuse Orangemen have already made their trip to Pittsburgh where they will face North Carolina in the first round of the 2012 NCAA tournament. Center Fab Melo was not with the team. According to 'Cuse's website, the only information the university can provide at this time is that he will miss the tournament due to an eligibility issue. We can practically hear the hundreds of furious erasers altering brackets as we type.

Melo missed three games earlier in the season when he was suspended for not going to classes, likely the same reason he is not eligible now. In those three games, 'Cuse lost its first game of the season to Notre Dame and ground out two wins against Cinci and West Virginia. During that span, the Orange scored an average of 60.3 points per game, a 14.3-point drop from the season average. Considering Syracuse could play Jared Sullinger and Ohio State in the Elite Eight, this could be a huge loss.
